30+ Years of Service

CASA Nashville stands up for abused and neglected children. Every day, CASA’s volunteers speak for children in our courts to ensure they find safe, permanent homes. 2014 marked our 30th year of advocating in our courts to improve the lives of children, and we continue to work for the well-being our community.

When an abused or neglected child comes to the attention of our court system, a judge must determine where they should go. Should they remain in foster care? Be reunited with parents? Or be adopted? The caseload is overwhelming and complex, and it is extremely difficult for the judges to know what is in the child’s best interest.

That’s where CASA comes in.

CASA provides a crucial resource of trained advocates who speak exclusively for the children. It is the CASA volunteer’s duty to acquire an in-depth knowledge of each assigned case, express the child’s best interest to the court and act as watchdog for the child during the life of the case. Advocates make certain these children are not forgotten and lost in the system, and their recommendations help judges make more informed decisions for children in need of a voice during an uncertain and often frightening time.

When you support CASA Nashville, you give directly to the mission of helping a child victim move to a better life and a secure home.

  • Providing volunteers to advocate for the best interests of child victims of abuse in court is CASA’s only program. Nearly every dollar raised goes towards this goal.
  • CASA Nashville is the only agency providing trained advocates for child victims of abuse. Our volunteers put in an estimated 27,000 hours of volunteer time each year.
  • Our volunteers save taxpayers an estimated $800,000 in foster care payments each year. About 90% of children with a CASA volunteer do not re-enter the child welfare system.

Unfortunately, nearly 800 child victims of abuse and neglect come to the attention of Davidson County’s courts each year. We envision a day when every child victim receives the voice they so very much deserve. Any support you provide will bring us closer to completely fulfilling our mission and our vision of serving all of the children.
