Children are one of our most valuable members of society. As a society, we are responsible for providing the care and support network that young members need. However, there are children that don’t have this network. Reports are showing an increasing number of cases involving child abuse and neglect. These unfortunate situations will eventually land many children in the court system at a very young age. Although a social worker will be assigned to an individual child’s case, often lack of time and resources leave some cases not thoroughly attended to. Some children fall through the cracks.
CASA Nashville is a local branch of the National CASA Association that is making strides toward making sure no child falls between the cracks of a much taxed social welfare system. CASA’s team of community advocates will work for children to provide assistance in researching their case and communicating their best interest with juvenile court through written reports. By advocating that the child is put into a stable and safe home, volunteers help ensure that the child’s welfare is top priority. By being a volunteer with CASA you can help ensure that children facing the challenge of unfortunate situations can achieve a strong and stable starting point: a family that cares.
