Recently, the CASA Nashville staff welcomed a new member to our team! Meet Carolyn Evans, our Program Director.
I met Carolyn in her office, at a desk saturated with file folders, post-it notes, and pictures of loved ones. Having been a part of CASA Nashville’s staff since October of 2012, it was apparent that she dived right in to her work as Program Director. As I listened to Carolyn talk about the journey that led her to CASA, I was inspired that it was just that: a journey.
Carolyn has always felt passionately about children’s issues. Through her experiences in higher education, she was exposed to a variety of fields supporting children. She recalled a particular professor who acted as a mentor and guided her to consider what some might deem non-traditional approaches to serving children, like management and other leadership opportunities. Her professional path has been one of days full of adventure, chaos, and crisis response. Carolyn said that one thing never changed: she always sought to have a voice for the child. Through her vision for volunteer recruitment and bridge-building in the CASA community, Carolyn will help us ensure that children across Davidson County have a voice.
Carolyn also showed me a photo of her own family, told me about spending her days absorbed in sporting events, crafting, and spending time with her family. We hope you get a chance to meet Carolyn at one of our CASA events and welcome her to the team of people who advocate for our children.
