Volunteer Friday: Ally Vertigan

This week’s Volunteer Friday blog is about CASA’s Belle H. Bennett intern and now official CASA Volunteer Ally Vertigan! Ally grew up in upstate New York and moved to Chicago to attend Elmhurst College for a bachelor’s degree in Religion and Service, and Spanish. She moved to Nashville and joined CASA in August and just completed her CASA training. She was able to participate in a new form of CASA training known as flex training. The flex training allows you to learn from home on your own schedule and only meet once a week. Ally says she enjoyed meeting other new volunteers and all of the advocate supervisors during her weekly training sessions.

“It’s a lot of information that I feel I will better understand with practice”

And it is practice she will get! Ally was assigned her first CASA case yesterday! She expresses her nervousness and worries about the case but also realizes

“This is real life and there is a real chance to make a difference here”.
