The Child’s Best Interest

Working for the child’s best interest is what CASA is all about. Every CASA’s goal is to get children out of foster care and into a safe, warm, and permanent home. The Families, Lost and Found article from the January 2010 NY Times tells the story of a girl in foster care who was reunited with a lost uncle. The uncle welcomed her into his home with open arms and she says staying with him “makes me have more energy day after day and more happiness.” While this story has a happy ending for the little girl, it was also a meaningful to the uncle who says he couldn’t have gotten through the loss of his wife without his new family.
