Why Volunteers Matter

CASA’s Mission Statement:

CASA, Inc.’s mission is to provide trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who come to the attention of juvenile court primarily as a result of abuse or neglect.

A survey conducted for the National Institute of Justice showed that children who are victims of abuse or neglect are:

  • 53% more likely to become juvenile delinquents
  • 38% more likely to be arrested as adults
  • 38% more likely to become violent criminals.

A study of Federal Prisons showed that 80% of the inmates were, at one time, in state custody as children.

We don’t want these children to become another statistic. We want to give them a voice and a chance. Our volunteers take these statistics and CASA’s mission very seriously. We train them to investigate circumstances, facilitate communication, and advocate for the children’s safety. They make it their own personal mission to find these children a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible. Approximately 95% of children who have a CASA volunteer do not languish in long-term foster care. For that, we thank them.

Lift up a child’s voice. A child’s life.
Volunteer or donate today.
